I am a black gay Canadian male writer, poet, artist and all around shit disturber. I am just a struggling artist a man trying to make it in this crazy world. I started this blog in February 2007 because I felt the blogsphere ignored the concerns of black gay Canadian men. I don’t bother with the mainstream gay blogs because as usual black gay men we are displaced due to racism, sexism, and misandry.
I am challenging the supremacist notion that there is only “one” gay community and only one “gay” point of view that is palatable to the world. I am an independent thinker and I make my own decisions. I am nobody’s leader, I am nobody’s spokesperson, I speak for myself and myself only. The perspectives on this blog are mine. I speak my mind and if that pisses you off good. I think it is important to get people to think.
I was doing some research for my own blog when I discovered your wonderful, insightful, thought-provoking blog the other day…I have to toss my opinion in the wind to say that I am enamored with your writing and am truly proud of the way you represent!
I read your article, “Shades of Blackface” and thought it was brilliant…you have a new fan in me!
Thank you for your opinionated, in-your-face, don’t give a damn voice! I love it!
HI!
i stumbled your blog while researching for my sociology assignment which is basically about the the stereotypes that black actors have to conform to when auditioning & in terms of the roles that are made available to them in order to land a gig.
I just want you to know that i really enjoyed reading your blog!!i admire your honesty & though
there are some things that i don’t agree with
you on, i think you’re overall cool person!!
so keep up the good work!!! And do cheer up!!!
Hello Golden wow are you? Are you in university? Its okay that you don’t “agree” with everything I say because wouldn’t it be boring if we all “agreed” with each other on everything? In life the diversity of opinion is important. Remember my words are only my personal opinions. I am no spokesperson and I am nobody’s role model.
I read your blog all the time and love your tennis coverage.
The spin on this Hingis coverage here in the States is a wonderful example of whitewashing. Granted tennis is a B story at best but Carillo’s comments that she’s sure Hingis isn’t an addict are priceless. The whole way this is going down is extremely suspect. Why would an innocent person (of means) not fight to clear their name? And if it was “just” coke why not do the obligatory stint in rehab, (more to rehab your image than anything else) and be done w/ it? Can you imagine if a person of color was pulling this both tests are wrong bs?
Anyway, keeping writing, I enjoy visiting with you : ) !
Hi Kia thanks for reading my blog! I totally agree about the Hingis controversy. Mary Carillo is a racist termagant she simply cannot be taken seriously. Its not surprising how the mainstream USA media frames the issue of race and the social constructions of gender in the public sphere.
Yes, I must confess you have impressed me with your writing too… the “black” writing style gives charm to the articles, and i just keep on reading.. i was looking for Hughes book review, then i read your, then i went to home page and BAM: you got me on the hook.. as the principles of web success state, content is king! so, never stop writing and don’t listen to anybody who says you should quit… do what you like, only my advice is that you should spend some bucks on professional design and then get your own domain name and then transfer your blog to that new domain and have the old site redirect to the new one (so that the fans don’t lose your site).. if you do that, your credibility and success on the web (which is growing at elast becuase you now have me) will double… . think about my advice, it will pay… and never stop writing couse you are doing great…
Hello Dennis I was thinking about that, getting my own domain and really fixing my site up. Thanks I really appreciate it your comment. Its nice to know people like what I’m doing. I guess I am very frustrated right now! LOL! I received a letter from another writer the other day he told me to never surrender so I won’t. I just get jaded sometimes with rejection but I guess every writer goes through that.I’m an emotional kind of a person I say what I’m feeling. I really like my blog now its an outlet for me to express my thoughts and emotions.

Tell the girls to stop fucking thugs and find a decent black man. There are tonnes of them in Toronto.
This article is nothing more than a smear campaign against black men.
Yes my sister and father talked about that article yesterday.
Been reading your blog. I like the way you think.
